Mark Swart
MA, LMFT, LPC, LAC. Counselor offering telehealth sessions across Colorado.

About me
I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist, professional counselor and addiction counselor with 14 years of experience, working with individuals and couples by telehealth across Colorado.
Some patterns don’t announce themselves. They show up as a tight chest, a familiar argument, a habit you can’t quite explain. My work is helping you notice them, understand where they come from and change them, in a space free of judgment.
Why I do this work
I became a therapist after seeing how power can be misused in groups and religious communities. It shapes how I work: you set the pace, you can say no at any point, and trust is something we build, not something I ask for.
How I work
I come to this work with a long meditation background and a trauma-informed, body-aware approach. Before we try to change anything, we notice what is actually happening in your body, your thoughts and the way you relate to the people in your life.
Often the first job is helping your system feel safe enough to stay with what’s there, whether that’s tension, grief, anger or a strong pull toward something. From there we work at the gentlest pace that still helps. Understanding something doesn’t always change it, so we test what you learn in your real relationships and routines.

How I work
Body-aware. I blend somatic work with mindfulness and honest self-inquiry, because what you carry shows up in your body as well as your thoughts.
Grounded in evidence. I pair contemplative practice with evidence-based methods for trauma, anxiety, relationships and addiction.
Unhurried. Many clients like to begin with a few minutes of quiet or meditation, drawing on my long meditation background. It’s there if that suits you.
Open to your whole life. I welcome clients and partners of every relationship style, whether monogamous, polyamorous or consensually non-monogamous, and LGBTQ+ individuals and couples. I also support people exploring somatic and psychedelic integration.
